I understand the importance of running clear and succinct marketing to ensure a business capitalizes on its target market and I also understand the importance of managing businesses finance cautiously. I am a very approachable and a trustworthy person who can adapt to any situation. I’m a forward thinker and can tackle any challenge that presents itself. I have a PhD in Operations Research from Massey University and over 19 years commercial experience throughout New Zealand and England. Currently in the role of Programme Manager at FMG I am responsible for ensuring that our projects and improvement initiatives produce real business outcomes that support strategic business objectives. I would welcome the opportunity to join the board of the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce and contribute to the important role it plays in our local community to support the development of effective communication and networks.

These are the skills I would bring to the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce Board. I have been a member of the Manawatu Chamber of Commerce for a number of years and have fully supported its role in our community. My husband and I own and run Hotel Coachman and we employ over 80 staff. I feel small-medium sized business need good representation on things that matter to us as business owners, like…..council rates, parking for our customers, marketing our city and ways to keep businesses in our region.

He is a Director of the NZ Chambers of Commerce, Central Energy Trustee, Executive Director of Marist Sports and Chairman of the Appointments Committee for Vision Manawatu & Manawatu Rugby.

Having opened my first business at the age of 24 in the service and retail sector I have since developed several successful businesses.
I understand the day to day challenges of running a business and what is required to be successful. I have strong interests in Business Development, Marketing and Psychology and believe responsible leadership and robust governance accelerates success.

I have an enthusiastic and positive personality with a strong desire to being successful in business. I am looking forward to working with and becoming known amongst the local businesses and assisting them with their interactions while driving a strong link between Manawatu Chamber of Commerce and our business community. I have a love for all sports in particular golf, where i am currently on the committee at the Manawatu Golf Club.

My financial background will be beneficial in that I have experience with a large range of industries; this experience has allowed me to assist many businesses to achieve their goals and become financially successful. I also have the professional capabilities to assist the chamber with stronger strategic growth and the ability to provide support and advocacy for Manawatu businesses.

I moved to Palmerston North with my partner, Tamsin, in early 2010 to head up Operations for New Zealand Pharmaceuticals Ltd (NZP); a key employer in Manawatu. I am business minded, dynamic and an energetic self-starter with over twenty years’ experience in the pharmaceutical / Health Care Industry. I enjoy networking and building strong mutually beneficial business relationships and am very passionate about our great region. I would welcome the opportunity to support the Chamber of Commerce and work with other Board Members to support and promote regional businesses and assist in creating environmental, sustainable and economic growth for the Manawatu.
