Founded in 1959 as the Palmerston North Art Gallery Society, the Manawatū Art Society has developed one of the most significant and representative collections of contemporary New Zealand art held by any provincial gallery in the country. Today, this remarkable collection is known as the Manawatū Art Collection and continues to be a source of pride for the region.
