Modern businesses use lots of systems — accounting, CRM, documents, email and reporting — but how do they actually talk to each other? This session explains integrations, APIs, automation and AI in plain English. Using familiar tools like Xero, HubSpot, Microsoft 365, Power Automate and OpenAI, we’ll show what’s really happening behind the scenes, what’s possible today, and why this is no longer just “technical stuff”. You’ll leave with a clearer mental model and practical ideas you can apply in your own organisation.
What we’ll look at:
Simple data exchange – sharing data via files like CSVs, spreadsheets, XML or database exports/imports.
Built‑in connections – using out‑of‑the‑box integrations provided by common business platforms.
Workflow & automation – automatically moving data and triggering actions using tools like Power Automate.
APIs (explained simply) – how systems request and share data in real time.
AI as an integration layer – using AI to summarise, transform or enrich data as it moves between systems.
