Manawatū Regional Economic Update

A white background with a few lines on it

The Manawatū Business Chamber partnering with CEDA invite you to another engaging panel discussion and Q&A as we explore the region’s economic outlook, with a special focus on the construction sector.

In collaboration with Palmerston North City Council and Manawatū District Council, and with the support of CR Law (hospitality), this event is set to offer new perspectives on the opportunities and challenges ahead for the Manawatū economy as we approach 2026.

Facilitated by MC Felicia Mackenzie-Aull from CEDA, the evening will kick off with an economic overview from Stacey Andrews, City Economist at Palmerston North City Council, followed by a thought-provoking panel featuring:

David Aldred, Regional Manager, LT McGuiness
Andrea Crutchley, Owner, Signature Homes
Hayden Townsend, Branch Manager, Carters
Matt Mackay, District Planner, Manawatū District Council

The local economy is showing strong signs of recovery, supported by renewed momentum in the construction sector, robust export returns, and improving consumer confidence.

With non-residential building consents on the rise and lower interest rates easing household budgets, the region is well-positioned for sustainable growth. Our expert panel will discuss how these positive trends are shaping opportunities across key sectors – from construction and manufacturing to retail and tourism.

Gain insights into what’s driving the Manawatū’s economic recovery and what lies ahead for 2026
